Default Both headlights out - OEM

2005 Xb

Out for a drive the other night and both headlights went out. I smelled something like overheated engine right before. That smell has been coming on and off for a bit.

I checked the two fuses in engine bay for right and left headlights. They are both okay. I replaced the relay for the headlights. Still no lights.

Any other ideas?

Regarding the relay, I wasn't sure I replaced the right one. My relays are not in the exact spot that the wiring diagram shows. It shows on the side of the relay block under the dash. My relays are on the front of the wiring block just above the other fuses? Am I getting the wrong one?

most likely the bulbs or the connectors itself.

I don't think it is likely that both high beams and low beams would all go out at the same time, especially since they are fused separately. Perhaps a connector that runs through both circuits.

Happened to be before, don't look at the fuses you circled the real fuse for it is the little red ones that say "10" on them, most likely the bottom right of your picture taken. This happened to me before twice already. Easy fix.
