Default A/C control leds

Id rather have white lighting instead of colored lighting for my a/c controls and stuff. Is the LEDs in the controls replaceable, if so what size. I just dont want to put the lil led caps on because it wont give me the look I want.

Uninstall the AC panel and take the yellow bulb condoms off the little bulbs.

It's true... the stock bulbs are not "white" they have a dull white/yellowish look to them, like old-___ head lights... The LED's are replaceable, I believe... Been a long time ago when I changed the LED condoms out in mine, so I don't remember exactly

You could just throw a small LED bar or cold cathode tube back there. A cathode would be easy, all you'd have to do is take the lamp out of the protective plastic tube that it comes in (just pull on the wire, it's easy as pie) and put it in a smaller plastic tube.

:?: :?: :?:
HAVE ANYONE OF YOU ACTUALLY DONE THIS
THEY ARE NOT LEDS THEY ARE BULBS AND LEDS RUN AT A MUCH SMALLER VOLTAGE AND AMPS THAN BULBS SO YOU CANNOT CHANGE THEM
THE LIGHTS SHINE INTO A LIGHT PIPE THAT MAKES IT ALL LIGHT UP SO THE BEST THING TO DO IS REMOVE THE YELLOW RUBBER AND PAINT THE LIGHT PIPE WITH TRANSPARENT BLUE PAINT:twisted:

meh, just throw a white cold cathode back there if you're looking for a clean white light.

I would just stick two little LEDs in the poor-attempt-at-fiber-optics domes if you want hyper white or something. I have it a dim red so I'm not bothered by it...

I bought a pack of ultra bright blue LED's and put 2 in place of the AC control lights. It's not too hard to do, the most important thing to remember is that the stock bulbs are running on 12 volts. Most LED's are 5 volts or less, so You'll need a resistor to keep from blowing the LED's out. A 470 OHM resistor is perfect 5 volt LED's. I keep planning to take some pictures of my setup, so I'll try to do that tonight and post them here so you can see how it works.

neat, they are running at 12v. I haven't had the time to check with my VMM. Maybe I'll put red LEDs in there now...hrmmm :D
