Default Cabin Filter is M.I.A.!

So I just went and had my oil changed at a Jiffy Lube the other day and the guy informed me that my cabin air filter (located behind the glove box) was not there. It was just an empty holder.
I bought my car new from the dealership and had my first 3 oil changes done by them. No one else would have even known about that damn filter. Is it Toyota's fault or the dealership itself? What can I do about it? And has it been doing any harm without it?

the xB's dont come stock with the filter...its pretty much an upgrade if you want the filter...or you could make your own if you didnt want to pay the 20 some odd dollars for a toyota cabin filter...

Unfortunately scion didn't feel it was necessary to include an air filter standard on the xA and xB. I made my own using a reusable air filter, so I never have to buy more.

I want to have a reusable filter. I do I come about to this? I really don't want to cut household mesh filter and don't want to make storage for extra filters. I rather have a reusable. Help please.

Making one is super easy with the filter I bought. I got a WEB Plus home air filter that filters particles from .3 to 10 microns. Here's a link: http://www.webproducts.com/Detail.bok?no=37
Now don't think this is like normal air filters made with cloth/fabric material, its some kind of plastic material with a foam center. I talked about it in this post, https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=182163.

To make one you just measure the size the car filter rack(I just eyeballed it) and take some scissors and cut that amount from the filter. If you want I can take some pics of what mine looks like.

Neither did they put 1 on the tC. This isnt Honda ya know! j/k heehee......
Although it may seem smart to have a filter, but I'm not sure if there a difference once the window is cracked open. But I do find a lot of junk when it's time to clean/change the filter.

har har!
thats funny.
It would be funny if somebody actually broke into his car and stole just his filter... if he had put one in there.

This reminds me, I need to make me another one.
I've got to cut up a big sheet.
I might make a few extras to save for later, or if anyone wants one.
I'm using the dupont filter with a washable blue prefilter and a carbon filter for smell. My last one worked pretty good, its just old now.

Don't forget a large piece of B-Quiet Xtreme on the back of the glovebox... helps with the noise from the blower motor on higher speeds...

Applied to the back of the glove box. Large space on back of glove box.
