Default Can I carry something 8 feet long inside my xB?

I'm asking this because at the moment I'm away from my box and can't measure. I want to pick up an 8' long florescent light fixture with my xB, but need to know if it'd fit in with the tailgate closed. I don't have a roofrack and it'd scratch the roof to hell if I strapped it on top.
So basically I need the measurement from the windshield to the tailgate. I was hoping someone who is near their box could find out for me. Thanks in advance.

I think you could if you were creative with putting seats down and using angles to your advantage, I mean the car is just shy of 13' over all so if you went from passengers foot well diag to the drives side rear towards roof it should make it IMO.
do you hang out, I'm from the SE... New London area and am always looking for more peeps to hang out with, drop me a PM if you ever want to get together or need help wrnech on mods or anything. Good Luck

the width and heigth will play a large factor in fitment. The narrower the piece the more likely you could manuver it with passanger and rear bench flat.

Most likely you can. I carried 8ft long boards by laying them on the top of the passenger and rear seat backrests with the headrests removed. Just make sure its all secure cuz there are only couple of inches left to the windshield. Even longer piece can be carried by going across from the front pass seat to the rear on the driver's side.

I fit my 8.5Ft Ladder in mine once or twice. As long as it isn't too wide, it should fit.

BTW, I also fit a full size (clothes) Dryer in there too (not at the same time of course)

shorberg - How did the Box Spring fit? How did you angle it? I'm moving from KY to Cali this summer, and need to get a mattress to come with me. Is it even worth the hassle?

THANKS!

I beat you all, I put a 50 ft hose in mine!

If you lay the seats down and angle it you should have no problem.

i out a Ford Focus Carbon fiber hood in there

and put a futon and futon frame in there too, WITH a passenger. then again you can always leave the hatch up and flag the end of your cargo.

Default 8 ' Lumber fitment

Hello!
I had four 2X6 8' long, four 1X4 8' long, and $200 worth of groceries in mine at once, and my daughter was in the rear driver side seat. I laid the passenger back seat down, passenger seat forward, put the lumber straight in along the passenger side and had plenty of room.
I had to be careful as the lumber was up against the windshield, but a towel and rope prevented any movement.
No damage inside and I was really surprised what I was able to fit in there.
Just for the record, I am 6'6" tall and have plenty of room behind me for another full sized adult. That was one reason I purchased my 06 xB along with the fact that it is very cool.

I almost fit a 10' piece of the metal corner molding that goes on the outside corner of a drywall installation (I had to bend it a few inches from the end) by running it from the passenger footwell to the driver's side rear upper corner.

I've also crammed a loveseat into the box, which only required me to move the driver's seat a few inches forward. I never cease to be amazed at what will fit in my car. I recently drove two of my coworkers to a meeting in another building at work, and they couldn't believe how much room there was in my car.
