depends on which mini-itx board you'll be using... the EPIA based boards will need at least a small heat exhaust port, but the EDEN based processors should be golden with a passive heatsink disguised as aluminum exterior trim...

I'm attempting to figure out something similar, using either a PCI or USB 2.0 based TV tuner from Hauppage that also have an FM tuner built in... but I'm still trying to figure out what the space the current stereo deck fills in is designed like, maybe I'll take it apart this weekened with some help and find out..

If you go by way of VIA EPIA boards, heat wont be much of an issue as they are fanless. The cpus use very little wattage and give off very little heat, so they dont need em.

not all Via EPIA are fanless, the EDENs are, but the full Nehemiah do require a fan...

The other concern is all the cabling you have to route in that tight space

I placed mine under the passenger's seat with a xbox on top of it with no clearance problems and plenty of airflow. Check out the links below, I am currently upgrading again using a racerboy shift **** to turn on the computer, amps, video splitter, and USB hubs.

Still one of the cleanest install I've seen by far...
