Default cd player volume lowers when driving? feature or defect?

this happens with both the stock headunit and my aftermarket pioneer. when i am driving the volume will sometimes go down...

asked the sales guy and he said he noticed the same thing when he took people on test drives.

is this a feature (and if so, how do you disable it) or is it just some screwup built into the car?

would getting a grounding kit fix this?

sounds odd alright.. i thought i heard the new stock 06 headunit had an ability to raise/lower the volume based on the speed of the car.. so if you sped up the volume would go up.. but it could be turned off..

but if your aftermarket radio is doing it too.. sounds like a voltage issue to the radio itself.. i would get a multimeter and test out the power going to the radio to make sure you're getting the correct voltage..

how much voltage should i be getting? my headunit has a voltage display and i did notice that it varies between 13-13.6? volt or so depending on whether the volume is lowering or normal

The stock 06 gets louder as you speed up.

It's actually a rather awesome feature.

actually that's the same voltage that i have in my tC as well.. it varies based on if you're using the a/c or headlights, etc.. but that voltage is normal.

possibly a bad ground..

i had that on my pioneer head unit when i had my accord. I think its called a vsl controller. It picks up vibrations and sounds and adjusts the volume accordingly from what i understand.

Push your volume **** in about 5 times or so untile it says "VSL" or something like that. Now turn the volume **** until it says "off" it should cycle through "low" "mid" "high" and "off"

Directions are also in your owners manua.

It is ASL, it stands for Automatic sound levelization or something like that.
If you speed up - it raises the volume,
if you slow down - it lowers the volume.
The low/med/high tells it how sensitive it is

I dont like it, though and i keep it off.
