Default Changing the color of the clock

Is this possible? Is there anybody who knows how? This is the only Amber lighting left in my box.

That sounds kinda ghetto! Shouldn't you at least use a Desani? Isn't that a higher class bottled water?

Seriously, if you find the DIY, I'd like to see it with pics if possible. Does anyone else have a suggestion?

The best way is to replace the LEDs. The problem with that is getting the LEDs focus correctly. Otherwise, the displays might look dim in some areas and bright others.

There's got to be a better way. Somebody make something!! If I knew how, I would. There are enough people looking to do this, that if someone knows how, they could profit.

I have found that practically any color can be had using the green clock. It’s just a matter of combining the correct combination of filters to achieve the desired shading. The key matching the blue of the cluster and radio LEDs is filtering out the green light using a purple filter. This will give the clock a light blue illumination. To get a medium blue illumination, layer a blue filter over the purple filter. Many folks have tried using just blue filters which results in either a teal blue or an extremely dim blue display. The clock can even be made to illuminate white if you wish by using multiple layers of pink film. Cellophane wrapping film can be used for the filters and is available at craft or party supply stores for a whopping $1.00 per roll so start saving your dough for this one. LOL
Below is a reference pic showing some relative shadings and the filters used:

wow...Thats alot of stuff...next time check to make sure you didn't post one pic NINETY-ELEVENTY TIMES...lol

I still don't think that would work...I mean it would, but our Scion clocks/odometer area, is a WHOLE area of orange, not thin 1mm wide clock numbers, we're talking about 7-8cm long by 2.5-3cm tall... Someone could try, but I won't be the first to ;)

late.

I'm pretty sure you could do it either with swapping the LED's or with filters. Basically it seems like it's a typical LCD that you typically find in older Nokia cell phones. I used to change the LED's on them to change it from the ugly green color to multi-color, blue, super-white, etc... And then I know some people that just used color plastic film underlay and placed it behind the LCD screen. When the lights were off it looked normal, but when the lights were on, the color of the lights and the colored film would make it glow a different color. So same concept. If you want to experiment, just use an old Nokia phone to play with.

I'm really supprized that randode hasn't come up with something for this. Wonder if any techies are man enough to give this a run so the rest of us can have something cool. I'll pay someone $0.50 to do this and show me how it's done if it works!!! BIG MONEY!!!!

Guy's if you want to get a glimpse of what's involved. Check out Michoku's link and then once in there, check out Toyotaracer05's link for the celica gauge cluster and radio color exchange mod. The LED's are pretty darn tiny so it might not be for the light hearted. As an analogy it's probably similar to modding a PS2 rather than an XBOX, those that mod know what I mean.

Heres what I'm wondering...Can we just pop off that rectangluar piece of plastic covering the clock and warning lights and put a piece of colored gel/film insert over the clear glass in front of the clock??? To me it's the easiest thing to do...The only thing is how the clock would look during the day wihout your headlights on...The gel insert might make it too dark to see without light behind it???

Does anyone know for sure if that rectangular piece is easy to remove??? If it is I'll try my idea and post pics of the results...I just want to know I can remove that thing before I commit to it :D
