I did a search, but didnt find what I needed. I am looking for a harness adaptor the goes from the new Clarion head unit to the stock harness. I cant figure out what wires do what!

Also, is it just a matter of matching the colors between the harness adaptor and my new head unit? Are all companies the same with the colors they use for different things?

 

I cant really give you any info on claring headunits, but on my alpine head unit, you just look at the manual and it tells u what each color is. Then you either solder, wirenut, butt connector, etc the wires from the headunit to the wiring harness.. Both the head unit wiring harness and the harness u buy for the car should be labled some way.

 

oh pls don't tell me your going to cut your factory radio harness and wire the clarion harness directly to it? just go to any car stereo shop and buy a harness...you will save yourself the headache later on. metra harness part# is METRA 70-1761

 

even when u buy the harness, u still have to match up colors between that and the headunit wires.. thats what i was reffering to, im not sure if he was

 

exactly...its better to match up those wires than matching them to the stock harness. it might be cheaper but a headache in the long run. especially when you install a different brand HU.
