Default Cold cathode mounting question (NOW WITH PICS)

Sup everyone,

I want to put 2 12" cathodes on the ceiling of my xB but I am wondering how to mount them... I plain on having the 2 cathodes mounted in a way that there is 1 above the driver and 1 above the passenger... they would be very close to the stock dome light.

I would prefer NOT TO put holes in the headliner... so I'm wondering how should I mount them? I plan on running the wires that go to the cathodes from under the dome light., yeah, some of the wire will be showing but not much.

the 1st thing that came into my mind was using double stick tape buti dont know if that would hold the lights up... like in the summer.... the only other idea i had was zip ties but that would require me putting holes in the headliner... and i prefer not to go that route...

any input is appreciated! i hope someone can shed some light on this... hahahahaha - please don't ban me for that corny pun.

I don't think you should put them on the ceiling, unless i am not understanding something, i don't know how this would look good.

not bashing, hoping you'll shed some light on this . . .

I have considered lining the ceiling with cathodes as well... It probably won't turn out well.

Consider LED Ribbons from Oznium or use a colored Dome Light from the Dome Light Man. Those are EXTREMELY bright for a dome light.

DONT DO IT!

I dont think you will like it in the long term, unless you are willing to build an overhead console that could house them and still look nice, at the same time opening up more mod posibilities....
That makes me wonder why I havn't seen more overhead consoles.

Thank you for the input, guys. I'm not going to do this but will look for another alternative dome light... I'm putting the cathodes I have under the dash, under the rear seats and i'll have 1 set left to put somewhere else... lol...

On oznium actually, a member posted pics of his cathode on the roof install - and they look pretty awesome when they're lit up at nite. here are the pics:

That's what gave me the idea but i'm gonna look for something diff. now.

The glow looks cool. I just dont like being able to see the light source personally.
He's got a sunroof, so He kind of has a tucked in spot for cathodes.
The way he did it doesnt look bad IMO with the lights on.
But what does it look like with the lights off?
If the cathodes had some kind of attractive housing, it would look way better IMO.
But it looks like you cant really see the light source from outside, but when you get in the car people would be like... what are those tubes hangin from the ceiling?
