Default Cold cathode woes...

Ok, I'll admit I'm an idiot, I don't know anything about wiring... so I hooked up a pair of cold cathodes (the kind meant for a pc), by utilizing randodes posts and the "interior lighting for >20" thread. I thought it was all well and good until I turned my headlights on, at which point, the cold cathodes went out! I could see how if they ONLY worked when my lights went on, but if they DONT work when its dark outside and I need my headlights on, then what's the point!

So anyways, I have them plugged into the little white plastic power source thingy that you get from reaching behind the dash between the two seats. There are four holes in it, only two of which have metal on the inside, the first one and the third one. I was using the first one which again, works on with the headlights off. I tried the other one, and it doesnt work in any case. I'm assuming the other 2 holes dont do anything since there is nothing conductive inside....

Any help would be appreciated.

one of the easiest power line to tap into is the green wire from the gear box... i recommend getting a light switch with the inverter.

The cathodes will stay on when u turn on ur amber/headlights..and u get the option of turning it off when u don't want the glare while driving.

good luck

That's good. You shouldn't drive at night with interior lights on. You wired for saftey, McGruff the safety dog would like that.

Yeah that plug loses power when the headlights go on. I'd say use the cigarette lighter.

Yeah Joe has it all figured out now! You know what I'm talking about! I still have the pics from working on Eddie's Xb at your house. That was too funny!

Yup, what Joe said.

And that's where I tapped into also. Why? Cuz Randode says to in his instructions for his kit.

Yes, I now have lighting inside my xB. I know, I know, its a shock.

THANKS RANDODE!
