Default Components or make my own?

Question for the audiophiles.. I plan on upgrading the front speakers on the box, and will be amping them. Since I will be amping them (4-channel) will I get better bang for my buck from using a pre-made component system or making my own with 6.5 mid-woofers and a 4" up in the dash? Since i plan on using a 4 channel either bridged into 2 chan with component, or 4-chan with my own. which will give me more quality sound in the end. Thanks.

Russ

also, the amp I was thinking of using has dual 1/2 3/4 chan level outputs so I can still set the levels between the dash and doors for a better soundstage.

Depends on what you want. If you want more mids then do the 4's in the dash etc. If you want to enhance the highs well it is hard to beat a good tweeter from a good component set in the upper front somewhere. You could do both. Get a component set 6.5 with tweet, install the tweets in the headliner corners or pillars and 6.5's in the doors, then put a set of 4" in the dash. So many ways to consider

Yeah, What I had planned on doing was going with the MB Quart 4" coaxil in the dash, then getting their add on mid bass component. Or, get a 3 way setup with the tweeter, 4" mid, and 6 1/2 woofer.

I would get the 3 way components I think. I had MB Quart 3 way components in a previous car and really liked them alot!!

Ok then, going with the 3-way setup, To make my own would it be better to run the 6.5 midbass with the tweets or run the 4" full range with them? Have a friend who has a set of kappa tweets and crossovers for me, I just have to get the rest of the speakers. also, where is the best mounting point for the tweets in a 3-way? I have some telling me that up in the A-pillars is good, but also some saying that in the top of the door is better to keep all the components closer spaced together for better sound.. Which is true in your opinons?

I've got a pair of MB Quart 4" in the dash with the stock door speakers, 7.5 ohm resistors on the MB Quarts. They sound great!

Top of the door front is maybe better for imaging slightly. The difficulty of install here makes (for me) it unlikely I would install speakers there. The sound difference between having them a few inches forward in the corners of the headliner or poking out of the pillars will be small and these areas are generally much easier to mount to cleanly.
