Default Connecting an iPod to a first generation xB

Hello, I am one of the original Scion owners, having bought my xB in July '03. The BEST car ever (for me)!!I noticed that the '06's offer connectivity to MP3 players. I would LOVE to play my ipod mini through my Scion. I' ve tried FM transmitters, but the sound really sucks. I've noticed 2006 HU's for sale on ebay for about $50. Would a 2006 HU fit in my 2004 dash. Please, anyone, I would love suggestions as to how I can play my ipod through my xB.

Thank you!!!

One method is using a device such as the USA spec:

I use this one, and it sounds and works great with the factory head unit . I used to use the FM modulator which was terrible.
