crazy idea for a sub enclosure in an xB
i was thinking of making an enclosure that will sit on the hump on the floor behind the front seats. Have a box come up about a foot with a JL 10W7 tilted slightly foward at like a 30 degree angle toward the front of the car.
what's everyone think of this type of idea? i'm not sure on how to brace it so that it doesnt fall over when turning.. haven't really thought about that yet. my first thought was to build my own armrest with 2 or 3 6 inch woofers in it angled slightly upward toward the windsheild.
my goal is to have a really good sound setup without using a lot of space. we got the xB for all the extra room for the dog and trips and stuff so i dont want to defeat that purpose with some bulky boxes in the back.

i didnt know it wouldnt sound good facing you.
so how about the same concept, except with the sub firing toward the rear, but still angled upward a little bit, firing toward the rear window area

It still goes against your typical sound stage set up but if you have a spare box around you could stick it there and see hwo it sounds to you.
When it comes down to it what matters is how it sounds to your ear. Not necessarily how "pros" say it should be set up.

I think it would sound just fine as long as it was being played in a blended arrangement (like - tuned for a SQ competition) and in a sealed box..... otherwise, I'd say keep it in the back...
besides, w7's require quite a bit of enclosure volume, don't know that I'd want one in the rear floorboard
