Okay. So ive read a lot of complaints about the interior of the Scion being too dark. Is this just a ploy to get people to buy more lights? And is the spedometer and such lit up? Or does it look dark and depressing when you look at the dash?

I've had an xB for two months now. The dash lighting is just fine, but I did add an aux. light to the headliner over the rear cargo area. Got one at Wal-Mart for about 6 bucks - wired it into the dome light.

Well your question has 2 answers:

Yes! The speedometer does light up and the whole console where the A/C and the rest of the controls are.

Yes! It is dark overall and thats why many people add Cold Cathodes under their dash and seats. Also some other more conservative people have added a second dome light in the back of the box. You can find more information on how to do the cathodes and dome light in the FAQ section of the site.

 

Ghetto? Not to me... plain/utilitarian, maybe. Not very bright either, but better than no light at all.
