Default Difference between 05 and 06 Radio Head Unit

Can anyone tell me if there was a volume control **** on the 06 xB head unit, either base or premium unit? I have an 05 xB and my wife hates the fact of having no volume ****. I just want to remain stock and assume an 06 head will plug right in if that is a volume control **** I see in the photos on parts websites.

If so,,,anyone know where I can get a good deal on a head unit?

Thanks!

I do believe the center **** controlled volume on the 06 headunit. I would go aftermarket personally, however, alot of people have swapped out the factocrap for other head units, I bet someone has one lying around that they would sell. I have seen a few on ebay , some as low as $15. I destroyed mine to use the faceplate part to make a factory radio looking headunit mask for when I park in bad neighborhoods, hiding my dvd nav Kenwood

All 06 stereos have a volume ****. If you want more details, click here and download the manuals for any scion stereo: http://www.scion.com/#referenceGuides

Default ....Volume ****....

Yes, a direct plug in. Connectors are the same in the rear of the OEM stock head unit. I felt the same way, I wanted a volume **** for my 2005 XB instead of the up and down buttons. I bought a 06 head unit and swapped it in. Then I bought the I-pod unit and installed it. So, I have a 2006 head unit boxed up and ready to send.
The install is a breeze, the dash bazel comes off and 4 philips head screws hold in the unit. Several 'do-it-yourself' threads are here on ScionLife.
Shoot me a PM and I will sell it to you cheap.

Default ...2006 OEM UPGRADE UNIT....

Look to e-bay, they sell cheaply. It is the 2006 OEM Upgrade Pioneer head unit. It looks like it has 3 *****, but the center **** is the ssp button.
However you still need the cable that is hard to find.
Search the XB ICE sections and read all about the cable that goes from the head unit to the IPOD docking port at the parking break. We don't have that port, but we can run the cable to anywhere it will reach. Search for 'IPOD cable'.

I found a few on ebay for $40-60 bucks after s/h. Not too shabby. Now that you mention this though, I'm interested and I'm going to have to look around as well.

Just an fyi!
