difference ist and xA
Ok this may be a dumb or noob question but why does the Scion xA have two identities the Toyota ist and Scion xA. Was there a release somewhere else and thats why there are two names. I see people changing their badges and all that but wasn't sure what the deal was about. Can someone shed some light on this situation for me.
okay...in japan, toyota sells a car called the toyota ist, when toyota created scion for selling cars in the US, they introduced the toyota ist to the US market as the scion xA.
toyota also sold the scion xB in japan too, but they called it the toyota bB.
all major car manufacturers sell cars world wide, and in different markets, they sometimes get different names and body cladding depending on what they believe is trendy in that market segment.
currently, the scion xD is the toyota ist in japan, and then sold in europe as the toyota urban cruiser. the current generation scion xB is sold in japan as the toyota corolla rumion. the tC however, while based off other globally sold toyota platforms, mainly the toyota avensis, which is sold in europe, is pretty much unique only to the US and canada.

no problem. the world of automobiles is diverse and repetitive at the same time. the toyota echo/ist/bB and scion xA/xB are all the same platform. all have the same chasis, and engine and transmissions that they shared. though, in other countrys, like japan, and europe, they have many many more engine options, usually lots of smaller or turbocharged engines, and diesels.
