DIY: Aux power outlet, lots of detailed pix!!
DISCLAIMER:
You can't hold me responsible if you don't know what your doing, so if you mess this one up, don't be coming after me.
OK, with that now said, us first gen owners have always wanted more than one power source for our toasters. Here is your opportunity and this has been done to mine and the girl's toaster so it's eaaaaasy.
You should be able to do this in about 20-30 mins. You need an aux power outlet with plug, tester, dremel, soldering iron/wire taps/electrical tape, stripper/wire cutters, a bit of wire loom, utility knife, sharpie and a quarter.
Here is the aux power outlet and connector I picked up from a donated 99 Toyota 4 Runner.

Here is where it is going to be installed, I dunno why Scion didn't think of this to begin with............

Remove the dash and the lower piece and this is your result....

Now right inbetween the air tubes is where your going to mount it. Take the piece off lay it down, grab a sharpie and mark the center between the vents. TAKE YOUR TIME ON YOUR MARK! This is going to be where your going to dremel the hole. Measure twice, cut once.

Take the piece out, grab a quarter, it's the perfect template, bring it down about 1/4" from the top and trace it out.

Flip it over and cut the padding out with your utility knife and dremel the hole on your mark.

Test fit, should be snug, DO NOT JAM IT THROUGH YET!

On the plastic housing for the output it has a guide that you will have to cut out with the utility knife. Sorry about the crappy pix but you should get the idea.

Halfway there folks!

Grab your test light, turn the key on and find your power source.

Pull the cig lighter power wire back through and cut the cover to splice into the source for the new outlet.

Tap into the power however you want, solder, wire crimp, tap or just cut and tape. To each his own so I'm not going to say what is right, it's gonna be your fuses your going to blow not mine.
A little wire loom to make it look pretty..........

Plug it in, reassemble and here is your finished product.

Any questions, please PM me, I'll be more than glad to help out as this is my 2nd time doing this.
