Default Do I have Japanese-style power door locks?!?

I noticed something strange the other day, and it was actually my gf who put two and two together. What I noticed was that when using a key to unlock/lock my passenger door, ALL locks unlock/lock. When I unlock/lock my driver-side door, only the driver-side door unlocks/locks. At the time, I just thought "huh, interesting." My girlfriend, who's Japanese, pointed out that it was set up like a Japanese car (driver sits on the right). Is this a mistake? Do I need to get some warranty work done to fix it? It would be great if I could unlock/lock the whole car from the driver's side.

I guess my biggest question is, do other people have this same setup?

...btw, god I love my xA!

You have an xA? In my xB you simply have to turn the key twice on the driver's side to unlock all the doors.

I think this is in the manual.

My doors don't lock when I turn the ignition or begin moving, but I think it is supposed to be in AUTOMATIC mode to do that. I read the security manual three times and didn't get it.

That has been standard Toyota practice on power lock doors since atleast 1992 and I believe it has been since 1986.

Well, I'm embarrassed. I've been enjoying the thing so much I haven't actually sat down and read the manual. Slap in the face for yours truly. Thanks for the info!

What about the autolock when the ignition is turned? Does the security system have to be in automatic mode for this to happen?
