Default dome light wiring - very quick question

can i simply wire that by tapping into the stock xB dome light wires? do i need to add a resistor or anything of that nature?

thank you guys in advance!

If that device is designed to work with 10-15 volts input, you should be able to simply wire it to the existing domelight wiring. If not, you will likely need a series resistance. Can't tell from the pic. Sorry!

Thank you for the info, Tomas! You are always helpful!

I am thinking about buying a few of these (4) and want them to all run off the dome light (ie - they turn on when the doors are opened. How would the connection in a series look? what other parts would i need?

Assuming they are designed for automotive voltages, and assuming you want them only to respond to doors or hatch opening/closing to turn on/off, you would simply connect the red wire from the new LED light to the blue/yellow wire at the dome light, and the black wire from the new LED light to the red/yellow wire at the dome light.

Here's the schematic:

IF, HOWEVER, the LED lights are made for some other voltage, and not the 'nominal 12VDC' of a vehicle, you will need to add a resistor between the red LED lead and the blue/yellow wire...

Tomas - awesome diagarm! ps - the lights are rated for 9v to 18v dc.

How would it be possible to install 3 of the lights (picture in my 1st post) by attaching it to the wires in the dome light? I am thinking about attaching all 3 to the dome light wires but then running them to different locations - IE - 1 towards the front, 1 towards the middle and 1 towards the back of my xb - all along the roof.

This will be my last Q - i think! lol

What you describe should work just fine. Each of your 'extra' lights would hook up to the dome light wires in exactly the same way as the first.

If the LEDs are set up internally the way I expect they are, the additional load should be no problem at all to the control circuitry, and the LEDs will turn on and dim just like the original dome light.
