Default Double DIN cover

Has anyone made a cover for the double din dash opening? i am just concerned, as i will be upgrading to a avic d1 and am looking to have some way to cover it. Maybe just a plastic panel that sits over the hole. I would just hate to leave it exposed in some of the places i drive.

Sort of ghetto but it'll work:

take a piece of cardboard and cut it to the size of the double din space. get some black fabric and "staple" it onto the cardboard - covering both sides... this way, especially at night, it'll look like you have nothing there. if you put a different colored cover over it, i think people would assume that you are trying to hide something.

Another thing - the screws that you use to mount the new unit: do NOT use regular flathead or phillips screws. try to find screws that use another tool for removal - IE like a torx set of screws or something like that.

lastly, have you seen these cable locks that they have for laptops? you can get one of these and sorta hide/mount it behind the unit. you can tie one end to the chasis or wherever you see fit and place the other end onto the unit somehow. I don't know of anyone that's done this but it does seem like it would make stealing the unit a little harder.....

Awesome, i had thought of the screw thing, and the cable lock thing, but in all honesty, if someone breaks into my car to steal the head unit i dont want it to be impossible. Imean, if they want it, they will get, so after ther break in, i just want them to take it, instead of busting out the jaws of life or the chain saw.

i like the cardboard thing though, cheap, simple, probably effective. SWEET
