Default Double-din VGA monitor needed, any suggestions?

I currently have a Mac Mini going to an Alpine CDA-9856 HU and a Lilliput 8" 889GL-80NP/C/T touchscreen mounted in the dash with epoxied brackets. Recently the screen went dead on me and I haven't had a chance to pull and test it yet. If it's dead I'm thinking I want one made for in-dash use as this one required a lot of cutting and some rewire. Any suggestions on what to use?

The Mac Mini has a digital output but has a VGA convertor, I just need a screen with VGA @ 800x480, no bluetooth, no CD player, no DVD, no GPS, nothing else, that's why I have the Mac and the Alpine. Does this even exist?

Xenarc makes a single-din 7" as the 700 IDT but it's 400 and I don't like the single din look in a dash as big as the xB.

I have a Carnetix CNX-P1900 currently powering the Mac and monitor, I could power the new one off of that as well, would prefer non-flip out.

I use a Lilliput 619GL-70NP touchscreen. I had to make a small fiberglass bracket (wrapped in vinyl) to hold it in place, but other than that, I didn't have to do any cutting to get it in place. The power button, volume buttons, etc., are not visible. Only the screen shows through the 2-DIN opening of the Scion dash. I also like having the screen set back in the dash a little since it does help to prevent glare. Flush mounting just had WAY too much glare on the screen in the Camaro and made it near impossible to see during the day.

That looks almost exactly like mine except I have the 8". I guess you're not having problems, not sure why mine died, I'll be cracking it open Sunday to try and fix it.

Still haven't opened it up but it's not dead. Every time I start the car the screen flashes briefly, so it's still getting power. Usually I need to manually turn it on via remote to get it to come and stay on, I'll be replacing the remote battery and see if that's the problem. Since the control buttons are now behind the dash, I'll also be wiring up a re-routed power switch so I don't have to rely on the remote, I don't think it was meant for daily use since it runs off of a watch battery.

Pulled it out, the switch board gets power, LED's light up but no display, not even the yellow text saying PC when it's turned on. I'll need to remove the back housing and inspect the board, something I don't want to do since it means I need to unmount it from the dash panel. I've only found two true double DIN VGA touchscreen monitors, bot overpriced.

Is it too much to ask for a non-motorized display without an FM tuner, DVD player, multiple inputs, etc. I just want a monitor pre-packaged to fit without needing to chop and mount my own. It astounds me there is no market for this. Maybe I should dust off CAD, amke a standard housing and start making one for a 6 1/2" Xenarc or Lilliput.
