Default DVD-in dash help...jensen?

Ok here's the situation. I could just get a regular cd player head unit, but i'm dying for an in dash dvd. As a working student with a car payment, insurance, cell phone, etc. i don't have the $1000+ to spend on an in dash. I have my subwoofer and amp (refer to signature) hooked up and i'm looking for something that will still let those sound good, but that will make the stock JBL speakers sound much better than the stock Pioneer head unit. I have a friend that has a Panasonic in dash in his tC and the stock JBLs sound 100 times better. I'm looking at a Jensen VM-9410 because the price on it is what I would pay for a top of the line regular head unit. If anyone has experience with Jensen head units, no matter if its a dvd-in dash please post what you think about it. I have no idea if they are any good at all. Some of the cheaper brands are trash that would last a month and go in the garbage. I have a Power Acoustik amp and i love it, not something that will die anytime soon. Is a Jensen deck something that will last me if i take care of it? Someone point me in the right direction

If you vote to spend the money on other things - post what you suggest.

I would go for speaker and amp upgrades first... then the HU as you will more satisfaction immediately although probably you will want to change the hu as they expose some weakness's it has...Jensen/Audiovox are top of the line but offer good bang for the back

The stock JBLs sound clean enough to my ear to keep them in the car and leaving the door speakers stock until its absolutely needed for an upgrade. Why upgrade something that already sounds great? (IMO atleast). I'm assuming that amping the stock speakers with a 4 channel amp wouldn't do much because they aren't really designed to handle that much power with the stock HU. ...and i'm assuming you meant "Jensen/Audiovox aren't top of the line but offer good bang for the buck." thanks for the input

I have not personally used the Jensen VM models, but I have sold 3 of the VM-9510's and I have only heard good things about them.

I can sell you the VM-9410 brand new for $500
Or the VM-9510 for $660

The 9510 has more wattage, a tv tuner, 1.15 mega pixel versus 336,000 pixel, and a center channel output.

The 9510's picture quality is really really good with 1.15 mega pixels, and a tv tuner is nice

Here's a review about it on my site:
The picture quality is awsome, the remotes are easy to use and the installation was a piece of cake. This HU has a ton of features and makes adding other audio and video accessories incredibly easy. The deck may look kindda plain when closed but screen looks great when open. Probably one of the best deals I've seen Phil offer yet.

we also sell jensen at circuit city and bang for your buck its a pretty good unit comes with pretty much everything except the nav. but oznium has the better price if your really into getting a screen go for it but as for sound, there's really nothing special about the jensen/audiovox just your regular bass/treble and loud eq.

just my 2 cents,

boydspolishing is selling a ptid-900pkg power acoustik dvd/am/fm/tv/mp3 player on scionlife; i just bought one from him (he had two) and he has the second available.

at 450 for the 7" fully motorized screen, and dvd + various inputs/outputs/ camera input and automatic switchability; its a pretty great deal, and i believe he's offering discounted shipping...

when you want to do nav, get your laptop out; go to best buy and get the delorme street atlas 2005 software + antenna for a total of $80... truuuuust me, you'll use it when it's needed....and delorme is the best (strictly gps) gps company out there. no joke.

ill hav pix taken tmw pm me if you'd like to see

in dash dvd or hell any video in front of the front seats is dumb and illegal. waste of money for a "show" item which is soo played out it shouldnt matter anymore. just so people know having an in dash dvd or screens in general DOES NOT make you cool.

No one said having an in dash dvd or screen make you cool.

In dash dvd, video in the front seats is not dumb and it is not illegal. It is not a waste of money and it is not played out. I never watch something when I am driving. I only watch something if I am kicking it with friends or bored. I spent every day of the past 2 years enjoying my in dash screen. I like the way it looks. It gives me more control over my music, my EQ settings, and it has a built in nav so I don't have to worry about getting lost. In high school, I spent at least 1 hour per day skipping class, going down to the parking lot with my buddies and playing PS2 in my car.

Hey Oznium.com you have a nice site, how long will the offer of $500.00 for the cheaper Jensen DVD be going on and does it have a complete mounting kit?

Thanks

I've been very impressed with how he's dealt with me and my demanding nature! LOL

He's also very easy to get a hold of which means a lot to me!

haha No offense but everything you said was retarded. Personaly I have 3 monitors in my car. 1 up front 2 in back. My reason is simple. Because I like to entertain my friends. My friends always want to take my car cause I have monitors to watch movies. To play games. They rather do that then stare out a window at tree's on 3 hour trips. I don't see how that is a waste. Maybe if you don't have passengers and don't travel it would be considered a waste. Nothing though is a waste if it satisfys the reason you purchased it for. If someone purchases a DVD player thinking it makes them cool and they feel cool afterwards then it wasn't a waste to them because it satisfied them.

Saying that having a in dash dvd doesn't make you cool can be said for just about any mod on a car. Does having JL audio make you cool? Does having aftermarket rims make you cool. Does having a new headunit make you cool. Does having a loud exhaust make you cool.

I guess only cool people have stock cars.

Im sorry I just found your post pretty funny and retarded. It seems to me like you didn't think about what you were saying thoroughly.

Hey TheIcon,

You helped me out before is there a way to bypass the monitor on the indash DVD player so it will play while driving?, I would like my fiance to watch it so I do not have to listen to her on long trips to Vegas.

Thanks

Bro I have a Jensen in-dash TV/headunit and it is pretty damn good, I would recomend it to anyone that wants something good and doesnt have the money to buy a pioneer or other top of the line(but expensive) in-dash TV. I love my Jensen!!
