How good is this crap anyway? I was thinking to Dynamat Xtreme my whole xB, floors, doors, ceiling, firewall, everything. THis should cost around $800

Now... how much will this help the sound, and which dynamics of the music will this improve on?

While I'm posting, which I hardly ever do, WHAT, oh WHAT, can I do to make my Infinity Basslink sound better? Is it just a piece of ____? Some songs sound pretty good, but others.... TRASH. This thing is good for Rock; but definitely not Hip Hop, R&B, or Techno/Trance/DnB

Dynamat will totally enhance the vehicles audio dynamics. You wont have to turn the volume up as much to hear it, and it will block out road noise. Even though dynamat will add weight to our small motor to move around, it will also improve the ride and handling. I have done almost the whole car except for the roof, and I have noticed a huge differance in ride quality, plus I dont have as much noise from my exhaust and the wheels.

The cheaper brands are ok, I just dont think they do the same job as Dynamat Extreme.

Go to McMaster-Carr and search for "Adhesive-Back Damping Sheets". Check some car stereo forums to see how many people use this. The "viscoelastic asphalt" sheets are identical to original Dynamat. They have more expesive options too, but they're all cheaper than the big name brands (since these are made for industrial use.)

I've heard really good things about Second Skin's products as well, although I have never personaly used any of them. You can find out more about their product at thier web site.

http://www.secondskinaudio.com

They also have a forum to discuss their products at http://www.splbassx.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&f=22

Handling is improved by the fact that dynamat is elinating rattles. Rattles, or vibration actually make the car vibrate while driving, making the car move slightly. Deadening the car with make the car not vibrate as much, improving the ride and comfort in the car.

When dynamat first came out, this was the reason for it, it was not used as a acousical product, further development into the product and they started using it for stereo systems.

The great thing about dynamat is that you don't have to cover the entire surface for it to work. Many test have been done that place Dynamat product is strategic areas only, and the effects were the same as if the entire area were covered.

For those interested in performance, this means that you don't have to add all that weight to get the vibration control that you are looking for.

"Brown Bread" by B-Quiet is great. I had it in one of my cars before and there have been tests done that show Brown Bread to exceed Dynamat Extreme in most cases. B-Quiet and B- Quiet extreme are both about on par with regular dynamat but Brown Bread is the ____. And it is much much cheaper than D-mat extreme.

that comes out to $3.58 per square foot. that's not so cheap. you can get dayton audio brand (no name) visco-elastic sound deadening sheets (12 square feet) for $20 from partsexpress.com, which comes out to $1.65/sq. foot, less than HALF the price you paid for DE. it's about the same quality as the original dynamat. plus, if you buy four sheets, you get a better price, which comes out to $1.49/sq foot.

i'm not claiming that it's as good as DE, but in my experience, sound deadening sheets all work ROUGHLY as well. DE may be slightly better, but it's not worth more than double the cost!

The thing that interests me most about DynoMate Extreme is that you it is much easier to install than the origional, no heat gun, and lighter. Cna anyone tell me how brown bread compares in these catagories. How is weight and install.

Yes, I read that thread quite intensly a while back, but they still didn't say which is lighter or better between brown bread and Dynomat X. The brown bread site says that a heat gun is recommended, where dynamat x says no heat gun.

Prep work is the most crucial part clean all surfaces and unless it is very cold where you are you don't need heat...
To me I can't tell the difference in how light one is compared to the other, just that one is cheaper that to me is the big difference.

Brown Bread was like 70 sq. ft. for $130 on e-bay. Not sure if it still is or not.
