Default Eclipse

What do you guys think of Eclipse audio stuff? I'm thinking about getting an amp($300 for a 4channel 800 watt) and titanium sub($350 for 750watts of continuous power) from them. If not I'm going to get a JL 4channel amp and sub, but they push out a lot less power. JL is a lot more expensive too, but I know there stuff is top of the line. So what are your opinions on Eclipse audio?

Eclipse is high quality audio equipment. With a good install, no "Best Buy Special" will ever come close to one Eclipse Titanium sub. Eclipse isn't the cheapest around either, but JL is really popular right now, so it can be pretty pricey...

I had a 5 channel Eclipse amp(EA3532) in corolla and plan on installing it in the tC very soon. Top notch product with very low distortion, super fast power refresh rate(40hz, I believe), well laid out controls/connections and it looks really nice too.

I am thinking about some component speakers as well like SE8264 and SP8954, I don't know just yet.

They make nice products, but it's true, they are not inexpensive.

Hope this helps,

eclipse does have really good subs and head units....but i've never heard anything about their amps....BTW...i'd get a 2 channel or monoblock amp rather than a 4 channel if I were you....

I have 2 JL 12w3's and JL VR650-CSi components.....they really do sound good.....JL has a good product, amps and subs.....

I had 2 12 inch eclipse titanium subs, and blew them both with a rockford 1501 bD amp, i now have 1 12 inch DD sub and it is soooooo much louder, 158 db to be exact. http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/default.asp

well you gotta understand eclipse subs aren't known for their BOOM, they're known more for their crisp and quality sounds because they're design for tighter hits and a fast pace bass. any techno or trance music goes great with eclipse, rap isn't something that an eclipse sub would like.

the box wasn't made right/tuned right or used right... if properly installed you should never really "blow" equipment... the dd sub could definetly be louder, but could you actually play music with it or just burps?

back in the day... when i had a single eclipse aluminum, model 1120, with an xtant 301a to power it (300 watts max @2 ohm), I could make the old school nelly song "here we come now" respond to both the kicks as well as the bass line extremely accurately... with no localization of the sub being in the rear... I would hit low 130's off of a total of 600 watts for fronts and a single 12" sub that still reproduced music evenly! all in a sealed 1.25^

and for comparison I tried to replicate that sound I used to have by using the following equipment... rockford 550s, 551s, 850s, 851s, p3002 t5002 punch hx2, and power x2, power T1 12, ... double and triple the power.. while still not the sound i wanted!
JL 250/1, JL 500/1 w0, w3, and w6...
the JL's got closer to the tight hit sound i was looking for, while the rockford T1 had the lows I was looking for...

the JL w0 stil reigns as the best bang for the buck for the 100- 150 area... while eclipse dominates the 200 - 300 area in my opinion...
BTW a titanium for 350 is a steal...
