I think that each type has its place but...

I did not want to paint (multiple layers) and wait for something to dry. The v1SE2 is a lot thicker and sticks like a ****. Bam! Moving on.

Its a lot of work, but do it in sections as you get time and $. Front doors>rear doors>hatch>cargo floor. Floor pan and roof require more involvement.

Can this go back on topic for the poor person that started it?

Talking about their Edead compared to dynamat seems to be somewhat on topic?!?! Anyways I thought that maybe the paint would serve the same purpose just take more time. Anyways anyone else know more about their paint sound deadener

It's made for places that are hard to get to with strips of sticky deadener... it serves its purpose well... many people use it first then go over it with mat.... all in what your willing to spend / do...

Ok so if I were to just use the paint it would serve somewhat of a purpose but would not be as good as going ahead with the mat. I just dont want my trunk to rattle like crazy and I think that is going to be near impossible pushing over 3000 watts in the back to 3 subs.

The paint will probably do about the same as the v1 mat - combine them for best performance.. just do it a little at a time if the $$ is an issue..

I suppose it depends how much you're investing in your system. It's probably silly to spend $300 on sound deadener for a $500 system. I guess I'll get a better sense of how "tinny" the box is when I pick mine up next week.

Money is an issue but in a different way. I have money to pay for all this now. I just have a hard time spending 300 bucks on sound deadener alone since when I do sell my xb later I could not remove this and sell it online or through SL. My last xb I had over 6 grand into and the dealer only gave me 600 dollars for all my accesories! So I have pretty much been ruined for investing any money into the xb that I cannot sell once it comes time to upgrade to the new xb

I guess my real question about the Edead is can it really make it so my trunk will not rattle like crazy? If it only makes it a little better then I cant see myself investing that.

Yeah, you're pretty much going to lose your money on anything you can't remove since accessories are a matter of taste. That said, you would probably benefit from deadening the doors and the rear hatch area. That would at least reduce the tendancy of those panels to resonate, improving sound quality. Deadening those areas would be cheaper and easier than pulling the whole car apart.
I'm just guessing here...someone who knows better can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You'll definitely notice a much larger improvement if you completely seal the inner door metal so as to seperate the front of you midrange speakers from the rear of them - much better bass response and frequency response in general...

I have the eD 6500's, very happy with them. Check my profile to see what I am running. Personally I had the Alpine Type -S components and compared to the eD's the eD's win hands down. Of course I've never put them against the Type-R's.

Price wise you can't beat eD's, I got a nice discount on my stuff. I don't use rear speakers, well except for subs. The eD's are perfect for rock/alt/classical/vocal, not so great for hip-hop or Bass heavy music. If you do get the eD's I would suggest getting some smaller mid ranges like a 6 or 8 in woofer to fill in the mid bass range. I got my Type-S's for under 100 bucks so I couldn't pass that up, I didn't pay much more for the eD's.

There is one guy here on SL who did the posting on how to dynomat the whole xB, personally I think he's the resident expert on audio and the B. Or if you want check out ICIXsound.com for user info on eD's stuff. Good info on other equipment for cars there too. BTW don't bother mounting the tweeters in the sail panels (the place behind the side veiw mirror on the inside of the car) It's been almost two years and I still can't get the Time Correction and staging right just because of the placement. Good luck!

Make sure you eDead the insides of the rear fenders too when you take off the rear panels. There is a ton of flex there when bassing.

ID originally designed the ov series for elemental *LOL* the ov is killer sub but I would not say it is "better" than an IDQ

Image Dynamics makes outstanding subs... I consider the Ov line on par with the IDQ but obviously not better than the IDMAX

Alright question about the Edead. Is there much of a difference between the regular Edead compared to the upgraded version? Sorry I dont know the specs of them exactly. Trying to decide if it would be better to cover less of my car with higher quality eDead or Cover more of my car with regular edead.

I have 2,000 watts of power now in my xb in just subs and am going to replace all door speakers and tweeters. I plan to Cover the Hatch, Door panels, and inside the wheel wells in the back. Any advice?

I would highly recommend you just buy 175 sq. ft. of the eD eDead v1SE² and just cover everything like I did.
I can't tell you exactly what the differences are though.
