Default engine noise

So i just got my amp installed for the fronts and rears. It is an Orion 4004 amp, 4 channel, that is connected to the stock HU via high input of the amp. Now I have some engine noise, noise that comes out of speakers when I rev to high rpms. The guys at the install shop installed the signal and power cable on the same side, but they said it was not the source of engine noise. So is there anything that i could do to get rid of it?

you need a better ground
or...
goto radioshack and get a ground loop isolator
wire that in..
itll get rid of the noise.
(mine did it too)

Did you run your power wires anywhere near the out put wires?
This can cause the noise you hear.
Did you clear off all paint and grease from your ground location?
Bad ground can cause it.
Did you groung all audio equipment to the same location?
Doing so will cure any ground loop problem you have.

Just a few question for you to to ask yourself to get rid of the whinning noise.

I got it installed professionally, the guys at the shop said that putting the power cable and signal cables will not make engine noise. They said it was just myth.

Since I didnt install it myself I'm not sure if the ground it bad, but im going to go check later.

What do you mean all audio equipment? The only extra thing that i have put into my car is this 4 channel amp. Can you be more specific on this question?

If i want to go buy the ground loop isolator. Would it work if i didnt use RCA cables? The Orion 4004 amp had high level input so i used those to hook up with the stock HU. Do you have a link that i could see the ground loop isolator?

By all audio equipment I ment the HU as well as the amp should be grounded to the same point if at all possible, not having them grounded at the same point can cause it.

And for the "myth" I worked for 13+ years with the Government in comunications, it ain't no myth, ask anyone that gets the alternator noise( which is what you are hearing I believe) about cross signals, happens with spark plug wire as an example. ever heard of a cross fire?

I went to an al and eds place to get my amp installed and the guys there swore that that is not the case. Are they just BSing me? Where is the grounding point for the stock HU located at?

They might just be, trying to get you to except their"expert" install or sell you more stuff.

The stock HU is grounded to the bear metal support bars that the plastic trim pieces snap onto just below the radio. Look for a group of white wires with black strips on them with a flat lug, about half way down the support tube. ( I also built Toyotas for 9 years, as a wire repair expert)

You can also use the bare metal at the e-brake mounting point, its real close to the location you want and is already bare.

And did the installer use the same guage wire to ground as he used to run the power?
think of it as the I/H/E mods we all do ( that would be Intake/Header/Exhaust). the more in the more out. Our cars use the same guage wire for both power and ground off the battery, get my drift?

so i should definitly take the power wire away from the signal wire? Is it ok if they just cross each other once?

It should be fine, the real problem(noise) comes in if they run parallel for more than a ft . Crossing is hard to get away from since they pretty much come close at the amp.
