Factory Sub 'POP' Noise??
Only when it shuts off. We grounded it under the chilld safty bolt (like the directions said and even sanded off the paint so it would be touching the metal)... I might get another sub, I thought it would be more powerful!
I have no idea what the problem is. But mine is plenty strong. Frankly I have it turned down to maybe 1/4 of the way up. If I remember correctly, the white dot pointing to the right is 50% - I've got it like straight up. The only music where it didn't sound totally unbalanced any higher is stright hiphop or some electronica. If you want more bass, you need more mid and trebel too. But I guess there is a chance your whole system is defective and that the popping and volume are both problems. Hard to say without hearing it. The stock head unit doesn't have much EQ, so tuning things to make them sound good can be pretty hard. My only option was to just turn down the sub.
It would not be voltage changing that causes that, probably a faulty ground. Try finding a better ground. I tinted a car that had an amp grounded to a seat bracket bolt, and every time it was turned off it would pop much the same. I believe it's due to a poor ground.
