Default Found decent woofers, but need help selecting compatible amp

hey all,

I really like this setup, http://www.cardomain.com/item/ABNABP12T

but I really have no idea which kind of sub I need to meet the watts ohms and whatever. lol

here are the specs...

DUAL 12” TUNED BANDPASS SYSTEM
Dual 12” Molded,
Texture Injected Poly Cone
50 oz. Strontium Magnet
2” 4 Layer ASV Voice Coil
Power Handling: 800 Watts RMS
Sensitivity: 103dB
Frequency Response: 25Hz - 140Hz
Impedance: 4 Ohm Stereo

Can anyone break it down for me on what it means and what decent amp would be compatible?

Ohms are easy to master: when you wire 2 voice coils in parallel, you get twice the rated resistance. when you wire them bridged in mono, you get half the resistance. your 2 4 ohm voice coils will be wired speaker wires going to a + or -, then another wire going from the same sub on the side you didn't pick to the opposite on the other side, and then a wire going from the last post to the pass through. Anyways, you want an amp that's 2 ohm stable and will give you decent wattage. I've got a hifonics brutus BX1500D that is wired to 2 ohms bridged, and it turns the power out.

lets take this step by step

"DUAL 12” TUNED BANDPASS SYSTEM" This means that each subwoofer has 2 chambers which it uses, a sealed chamber and a tuned, ported chamber.

"Dual 12” Molded, " is... dual 12" woofers. molded? ppsht, unimportant!

"Texture Injected Poly Cone" cone material.

"50 oz. Strontium Magnet " Size of the magnets that are used to actually move the cone of the subwoofer.

"2” 4 Layer ASV Voice Coil" It's a voice coil. Riight.

"Power Handling: 800 Watts RMS " This means that the pair of subwoofers can handle a constant 800 watts from your amplifier.

"Sensitivity: 103dB" (i'm pretty sure they're lying about that) this show's how efficient the sub will be. higher the sensitivity the better.

"Frequency Response: 25Hz - 140Hz" Range of reproduction for these speakers. The human ear can detect 20-20,000 hz.

"Impedance: 4 Ohm Stereo" each woofer has a 4 ohm voice coil.

the lower the resistance (ohms) the greater power your amp will provide as long as it is stable.

i have experience with the hifonics 1500d and a phoenix gold octane-r 5.0.1 500w@2 ohms... both are solid amps for my purposes. phoenix gold makes an 800 watt rms version that would suit you well, or you could go for the hifonics and have the option of expanding to 1500 watts@1 ohm. both are able to be had for under 250 on the ebay.

anyways, i hope this helped a little bit.

I believe DUAL is the brand, he's not just referring to two subs.

If you enlarge the picture of the box, you can see audiobahn written on the left sub.
