I like the retro idea. This is one of the projects I'm considering in the future. I dunno id photoshop's the tool you want. There's another adobe tool that does vector graphics.. can't remember the name, but publishers use it.
EDIT: Illustrator® CS
Another place to look is people that know autocad. That seems like a good tool to draw up somehting like this. (haven't used either in years though).

don't know anything about photoshoppe. I do have a friend that i need to get in touch with who does amazing job in regards with graphics, from lay out to printing. i'll take my time on this one coz the speedo is the part of the car that I always glanced at.
I could draw both of those up in about 5 minutes if i had the correct diameter measurements and the spacing on the numbers...print it out on any color stickyback paper and you could stick it to your speedo...if anybody is interested i could make several of them and even different designs

edit: I want a gauge that looks like my colorform face (see left). That would be hot.

i think this is the closest dimension.
so how much are you going to charge?
is it just P/S or final product?
i can use that to get the dimensions but i need the outside diameter of that so that i can scale it to the proper size
i can work out prices as soon as i get a price on a good quality stickyback paper to use and a number of people interested
start a list here or pm me if you are interested and tell me the kind of design that you would like. include pics that i can use as a reference or if there are any graphics that you would like on it
