Default got armrest : )

well ok...not really an armrest..I just butchered my center console to relocate my HU since a screen took over the spot it used to be in...maybe someday I will hinge a top section to it and make it resemble an armrest

1) early pic ( glassed and body filler )

2) sanded, primed ( never sanded so much in my life )

3) painted, clear coated

4) installed

PEACE

dammit, you keep showing me up

bad ___ looking... just fit an armrest top on it with some hinges and it'll protect the hu and give you something to rest your arm on.

- the HU is just held in place by snug fitting it using the trim and the rear cup holder so it easily slides in and out
- got a pretty good idea of how and what to do for the top section for me to rest my arm on it ..just feeling too lazy right now ...

I want to do something like that for the xB, but to put a screen in between the seats... and get an armrest out of it, but I've never played with fiberglass.

practice with something small first... i just started messing around with it... it's some nasty stuff. you can pretty much make anything with it though. i just use it to get the shape down then use body filler to smooth it out and make the shape more clean. i'm not that good with fiberglass yet, i don't really like to mess with it, i'd rather only use body filler but fiberglass is much much stronger.

2-3hrs/day for 'bout a week...sanding took most of the time 'coz I sanded the whole console to get rid of the texture as well.....

that's exactly what 'm planning to do... 'm just trying to figure out right now how to place a monitor bigger than 4" 'coz of the limited space between the seats....
BTW fiberglass is messy and can be frustrating at first but can be addicting once u get it to work..just ask tbblizzard anyway below are some sites u can check out as far as starting out w/ fiberglass

yeah, I have a 5" screen and there's not enough room, so it'll have to go far back and bubble out or something.

got_xA, that information would've been useful a while back,

looking at these tutorials makes me feel better about the way i did it, lol. i thought i was doing something wrong before or missing a step in fiberglassing. i did everything they did in the tutorials though :D

making boxes doesn't seem too difficult after reading these. hmm... i wonder, lol.
