Default Got motivated this winter.....

I bought my first gen XB back in October of 2007 and this winter I finally decided to upgrade my audio. I wanted to go with a Stealth install... but I still wanted it to sound good.

Alpine headunit with navigation, bluetooth, ipod (for video), Xm radio, Imprint audio processor, steering wheel control, back up camera and a Scion wallpaper to top it off.

I pulled out the headliner and did some deadning on the roof. I made a mount for an Alpine 10" drop down monitor. Since I had the headliner down I installed a terrestrial TV tuner - (yes we still have non HD channels in Canada). Since I had to move the factory interior light for my drop down I installed a Corrola map light up by the factory mirror (color matched it) and moved the factory light to the rear hatch. I modded all the lights with LEDS. No more shadows and hunting for things in the dark.

I went with a Boston Pro Series 6.4 seperate setup up front. I tore the crossovers apart and mounted them behind the dash. I mounted the 6" with MDF adapters in the factory door locations. I installed the 4" from the underside of the dash with MDF adapters and made a bridge for the 1" neodymium tweeter to sit just above them. I installed 6" coaxial Bostons in the rear for fill in the stock locations to run off deck power.

Well I had the interior gutted -- I decided to do some deadning -- about 150 Sq ft of deadning to be exact. Both sets of doors (two layers on the outer panels), wheels wells, the floor, and the hatch. I would advise anyone to do this it really helped.

Finally I needed to design some subwoofer boxes. I didn't want to lose any storage space in the hatch so I designed boxes that would fire down and sit under the front seats. I counter sunk the Alpine amps on the top of the boxes and still had 0.6 cu ft for the swallow mount 10" Kenwood woofers which is just about ideal. I covered the boxes in a factory matching grey carpet and bolted them through the floor so they are secure. An Alpine PDX 400.4 runs the front stage and a PDX 600.1 mono block to the woofers. I made a cover at the front of each box to cover the wiring and to hide 1.5 farad caps. The seats are fully functional on the tracks and I lost no rear passenger foot well space.

Just got to install my leather seat kits and maybe some headrest monitors and I am set and ready for spring.

What do you guys think?

That is a beautiful install man. Looks like quality work, and it shows that you really thought everything through. Big props man, keep it up!

Very well planned out system. I like how you put the amps into the sub boxes. It makes a nice clean package like that..

Wow... Very nice install man!

Question for you, did you just gut the the jack mount under the front seat?

If so where did you remount the jack in the car?

It fits perfectly in the tray in rear next to the tire --- no issues.

Nice install, those boxes look like an insane amount of work. I'm using the PDX-4.150 and the 1.600, they are awesome.
