Default grounds

Ok...

This might be a dumb question, but with the stock xB ground, where it splits off and one hooks up to the motor chassis, and the other up front to the frame chassis. Has anyone tested the car with just the motor chassis ground hooked up?

Reason I ask is because I threw a two output 4ga battery terminal on there so one 4ga to each spot. Well I wanted to test each wire to make sure it worked, so I just hooked up the motor one, and nothing would turn on in the car, BUT the battery light, and the open door light were on. Nothing went back to normal until I hooked the frame chassis one upfront...

Is this normal? I would think the motor chassis one should have been enough..

This is almost as confusing as your other thread about wiring. I would not start and taking off grounds that are to be on the car from the factory. Remember you can also add bigger wire to the grounds. I am still trying to fiqure out what you are doing on your other thread. GOOD LUCK!

lol, I don't know what was confusing about my other one. I can always clarify something if unclear

And I couldn't do that with an aftermarket battery terminal as the oem one takes up the whole battery post, and I didn't want to throw a bunch of ring terminals up to that, looks bad imo.
Plus it's so much easier to just use the same spots, it's not like the + to alt one where it's hard to rip out the fac wire if you wanted to..

Thanks for the reply however.

the reason nothing worked is because your engine is not physically connected to the frame of your car where all your electronics are grounded... if you look @ your motor mounts they are filled with rubber and it does not conduct electricity... furthermore electricity flows in a circuit... which means it all goes around in a big "circle" the power has to go somewhere... and that is back through the ground to the battery. have you ever touched a power wire to a ground (piece of metal in your car)? it sparks and tries to weld this is called a "short circuit". hope that answers your question!
