I took the cluster apart on my 06 xB. There is an extra empty place for another "idiot" light at ther far right. But the front overlay doesn't have any "icons" on it. It is just black.

I was planning on using that empty space to put in a "foglights on" indicator but the overlay is a unbreakable sandwich of 2 clear pieces of plastic and the black painted layer is inisde the sandwich, so there is no way I can remove the black paint from that area.

I wonder if what the bB has for an indicator at that spot. If anybody knows, let me know. Maybe it is already set up for the "foglights on" indicator. If it was, maybe I could get one from Japan and install it in my xB. Also, does the Japanese cluster have Japanese legends or are they in English?

Can you just drill a tiny hole to let light through?

 

I was hoping to clear out a square and insert a piece of transparency with a foglights icon on it.

But if the bB overlay had the foglights icon on it, then my problem woudl be solved. I'm still hoping that someone will give me more details.

 

The JDM foglights have a pushbutton switch with a fog light symbol on it that lights up. I've seen pictures (or at least one picture) of the switch mounted where the TRAC OFF switch is on the xB, next to the dimmer.

Wiring the fog lights up with the right switch and an LED in the cluster would be cool, if possibly labor intensive. I'd love to see it done, with a good writeup!
