Default Has anyone run 0 guage wire on XB

Has anyone run 0 gauge wire through the stock wire harness on the xb and was it hard too do? If not any suggestions?

Thanks

I ran 2 guage but not through the stock harness. I think trying 0 will be a very tough if not impossible fit. I went to Partsexpress.com and bought a firewall bushing (Link below) to use so it would be secure. The two things that were most agravating was having to find a 7/8 inch drill bit (set me back ($40) and drilling the hole on the fender side of the factory hole so it would be hidden and not worry about damaging anything. Trust me it was a real pain in the rear but the results were worth the aggravation.

Here's a pic of mine. If you follow the wires from the circuit breakers on the right under the plexi, you can see they go under the cruise control and you can just see them behind it and then they vanish. It makes for a very clean look.

Here's a link to the correct size you'll need:

chadfo,

Thanks for the info, how hard was it to drill the hole for this. For 0 gauge I think the bit is 11/2. Thanks for the parts express info.

Ok, I was thinking that since so much power was going through the 4 gauge wire for 2 amps maybe I could run one 4 gauge wire for each amp instead of running 0 gauge to the battery. Will this still work?

Thanks

It sure will if each amp doesn't require more than 4 ga. I'm pretty sure you can get 2 4 ga wires through the factory hole but not much else after that.

It was just a pain because it's very tight back in there. You can put it somewhere else. I just wanted it as much out of the way as possible. There was nothing in the vicinty on the inside that I had to worry about damaging so I punched it through. You might have an easier time drilling from the inside. Had I know everything was so open under the dash that's what I'd have done. Here's a link to the writeup I did about how to remove the dash if you decide to go that route. It's actually quite easy.

chadfo,

Thanks for the replies, I think I will try the 4 gauge route with 2 wires.

My brother pushed 0 gauge through on his xB. It wasn't that hard, it just took a little patience and arm strength. 2 4 gauge would be easier, but you wouldn't get the same results.
