Head Unit Car Setting

I have a 2005 tC with the stock head unit. I have heard people say that it sounds best when it set to xA mode. When I hold down the SSP button, I get the tC setting to show up, but I can't change it to xA. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. I have tried pushing about every button on the head unit while it says tC mode, but nothing changes. Thanks.
