http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...Pr4_PcY_BID_IT
I asked for 12 inches sub box
will that fits a JL 12W6v2 sub? if not, which is my best shoot (doesn't have to be JL)
Thanks

Kinda tough to tell if it will work with any sub cause I don't see an interior volume.... but it's only got a 5 3/4 mounting depth.... JL W6v2 is 7.6inches so that won't work.... unless the box has the right volume and you make a spacer ring to go under the rim of the sub..... but the ring would need to be at least ~4 inches to get the pole vent up off the floor of the enclosure, so that just depends on your opinion and the enclosure volume....

See if you can get out of it. That box wont work. Too shallow and way off on interior space(I can easily see that just by looking. Although I don't know how much air- space is in that box. Prolly around .7cu/ft)

You'll need to find a box that has at least 1.34cu/ft without the speaker in it.

OR since you said your a bassy person, if you can wait till you get your speaker, there are designs for a ported box that come with it that you could build yourself. Or you can download those designs now from JL's website. It won't be perfectly matched to your vehicle(custom) but it will still be pretty dang good!!!

Thanks for your reply, the thing is I HAVE PURCHASED that sub box already (truck space is important to me as well) I would like to know which sub would fix best in the sib box, and work best my amp (which will be placed under driver's seat). In addition, if changing my fount speakers would help the sound a lot, that would be under my consideration as well. Any suggestion to all these, thanks guys

Oh man. It's not wise to buy a speaker for a box as the specifications that you will need just got narrowed down a bunch. For sealed and something that will fit, you may want to go with Diamond Audio, but I'm not sure there is a 12" that will fit from them. The mounting depth of 5.75" is very shallow for a sub, and will be very hard to find one that will fit and sound good for the specifications. The JL W1s are shallow, but I think the 12" is over the mounting depth. As for a good speaker that will work well with that amp by itself and the box limitations, you will need to have a DVC sub. I don't know of any that will fit and work effeciently enough to impress. One though would be to go with one of the Pioneer thin subs which only use 2" depth (roughly).

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your search.

Box looks small, but...
http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...=Specs&cur=USD
13kv2 needs 5-1/2 depth and 1 cu/ft, ebay page "says" 5-3/4

^^^ That may work. Just make sure to polyfil the box so the speaker thinks it's got more room to move.

Ed was a good suggestion!! and spr0cket: I've ALWAYS had good results using polyfill in almost any application...

My only concern is that the pole vent would only have .25" between the rear of the sub and the bottom of the enclosure... Have to ask mandos about that one...

what do you guys think about
Boston GTR 12
JL 12W1v2
ECLIPSE products
compare to elemental design???

Or other suggestion I can choose from??

Or is there a creative way to make the sound system better (like put another sub box under the seats...)

Thank you!

Yeah, the 13kv2 is a 12" sub. The name is misleading. As for the .25 gap, it's a matter of physics there. A small 1/4" spacer ring would almost go unnoticed which would give the minimum .5" gap. If the pole vent is exactly 1" that is. There may be some pole vent turbulance which is negligable by comparison. This isn't a tuned port we're talking about... it's a cooling port.

As for the sub, the max RMS is 350W total, meaning you will need to turn the gain down for the install. I would go with dual 2ohm version and work on getting a better sub amp. The dual 2ohm will give you better options down the road (1 or 4ohm mono setup and 2ohm for seperate channels). Means more amps to choose from.

I would put the eD speakers on par with the GTRs and the JLs a small step up. If you want a creative way for a better sounding system, make sure you run same size subs and all of them are setup in the same area. Cross inducing phases are not cool and are a pain in the **** to pinpoint and fix. One of the best setups I've seen is a small shelf about 6" tall on the back with four 8" JL W0s firing down. The guy had almost all of his trunk space and it didn't take up the spare tire well either. The key was to build the box as low and as flat as possible giving a 1.5" clearance below the speakers. The sound was very good. 8" subs are extremely versitile and when setup right, will produce big numbers.

As for modifying an existing box to put in an additional sub? Don't do it. You won't be happy with the results.

The RF P1s suck. Don't bother with them at all. Better off going with eD.

I asked Chris (mandos) about the ED 13kv2's pole vent and he said

[1" at least...that enclosure won't work...]

I found some more shallow mounting depth subs: They are model numbers- Model # DS12D2/DS12D4 and here is the page http://www.diamondaudio.com/products...&line=3&model=
