Alright...so...that eBay box.

Does anyone know exactly what he means for 5.75" depth. I might have been thinking wrong. If he means 5.75" between the two boards, a 13Kv.2 will work fine. If he means from the front to the back board, it'd be close...would work but might have some odd noise due to pressure on the pole vent.

I'd go for the eD.

He already owns the box (measure the actual depth!) worst case build another. Probably can't hear the noises (sealed) and theres not a lot of air there anyway for cooling.

OT, Mark, you find some of the sickest stuff!!

This looks like it would be a good match for that box. I've seen these locally for around $125. Just another option. Your not gonna win any competitions with it but your kinda limiting yourself with that box.

fair enough, the reason that makes me install a sub because someone give a free amp and i feel if i sell it that would be a waste. My bottom line is that I don't want any storage space be taken by adding a sub.

I think you misunderstand me, I'm not critisizing you for not wanting to give up any space. I'm merely trying to accomodate your request for as much bass a possible in as small a space as you are alotting for it.

I haven't had a chance to look at the ED woofers but as far as that JL sub goes, it will PHYSICALLY fit in that box, but JL recommendeds 1.25cu/ft of air space. Once you subtract the displacement(that whole magnet and basket part) of that speaker from the interior of the box, you aren't left with very much interior air space.
This means that the sub will not play very low and will prolly not have very much output unless you run a really large amp to it. It simply will be a poor match. You can cheat this some by putting some fiberfill in the box, you will need to experiment with how much in order to get the best sound. The fiberfill in short kinda "fools" the woofer into "thinking" it is in a larger box than it really is.

Just looked at the ED speaker and it looks like it works with a little less air space, BUT the displacement seems to be twice that of the JL. The ED seems to be a better speaker as far as the motor structure, power handling and excursion. Out of those two it IS the better speaker. Which will sound better in your box? It's really hard to say. I think I would still try the JL first, unless the ED is the same price and is available at your local shop like the JL is. If your shop has both, get them to let you hear each sub in your box in your vehicle, this is not an unreasonable request and they should be very willing to do that for you. Good luck!!

I should add though that any of the shallow speakers mentioned in the earlier posts above will prolly give you lower bass with better output. Name brand isn't everything when it comes to speaker design and no brand makes the best everything.

Too bad the dealer I used to go to only has JL and other whatever bland not mention here (check www.ams-mad.com). I might check the 12W1 with them or asking them to install the ED for me, or go to Chicago or Milwaukee to see what do they get....
To mfenske,
I see you are from Wisconsin, me too, I currently reside in Madison. Do you have any recommandation for sub dealer, I used to go to that AMS dealer (www.ams-mad.com). I also thought about driving to Chicago or Milwaukee, any suggestion to that?? (driving to Chicago is my limit)

Hey man, talk to mandos up there^^ and see if you can arrange to go to eD in Iowa(maybe Iowa City?) and test fit/hear a sub before you buy it.... I think they'd let you do that....

Looks like that dealer you go to (AMS) sells a shallow pioneer sub. After I did some searching for it, looks like it only needs anywhere from .6-1.0 cu/ft. Nominal power handling of 300watts with a 1200 watt max. If you go there, see if they can demo it for you too.

This place also sells em pretty cheap and has a few customer reviews to look at.

Wow...Madison is close...well...200 miles...but still...not far at all.

Let me know if you want to meet up in Dubuque some time and I could bring along a 13Kv.2

The most Update news

My sub box finally arrived!!! I think its nicely handcraft BUTTTTTTT, They send me a 8 inches instead of 12 inches!!! I check the message history and i find out i sent him 2 message about i want a 12 inches sub box.

Anyway now i could get either a 8 inches, 10 inches, or 12 inches (i could just cut it) for the amp i have now (RF 700x) What is your suggestion

stick with 12 inches? ED/JL
or get a smaller 10/8 inches, and have a better sub/more choice

MORE DISCUSSIONSSSS

THANKS x 10000000000
