Default HELP!!!!!!!!! Alarm Problem

I just installed the factory alarm in the xB. Everything seems to work but when I set the alarm off the lights flash but the horn does not sound.

The horn sounds if I push it so it can't be a fuse

Does anyone know if there is a silent mode or anything that I can turn off?

If anybody has any suggestions please let me know

Uhmmm... the factory alarm doesn't have a horn sound...

just the blinky lights.

EDIT: Sorry misread. I thought you were talking about arming the alarm, not the actual sounding alarm.

What are you talking about........

What kind of alarm would that be?

Yes it does have a horn sound. The factory keyless entry doesn't but the scion security is supposed to sound the horn.

I also discovered the panic button doesn't sound the horn anymore either..

Please HELP....

Was there a wire that hooks to the horn on the alarm brain?

Are you talking about the color wire off of the alram or the factory wire color in the car?
The factory horn wire in the car is white with a red stripe and is in the steering column.. Not sure what the wire colors are for the factory alarm..did it come with an instruction book or manual?

scion security doesn't honk your horn... and when you use the panic button... are you holding the button down for a few seconds?

YOU HAVE NO CLUE TO WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!

Tell me then... What happens when the alarm goes off?

You are telling me that all that should happen is my lights flicker on and off, but no audible alert is sounded when someone forces there way in?

When I hit the panic button the same thing happens. The headlights taillights and parking lights flicker on and off repeadetly but the horn IS SUPPOSED to ALSO SOUND.

If anybody that knows what they are talking about please help me out.

Check the wiring again. When I installed my factory alarm there were to problem areas. The first was where all the wires go into the harness at the steering column. It's been a while since I did it but I remember there is a pin which you are supposed to switch out and rewire elsewhere on the harness. The second was routing to the last connector on hte passenger side kickpanel. It was installer error, I plugged it in where the ECU connector was instead of the passenger side connector. I think your problem lies at the steering wheel harness. Are any of the indicator lights on the dash like the check engine light or anything of the sort?

The instructions are good but they lack in areas like the steering wire harness directions. It took me a little while to figure that one out. I bet that is where the problem is, it's the most complicated part of the install.

BTW I was using the xB alarm for the 03-05, I think the set up might be different on the 06 cause of the controls on the steering but I am not sure.

dude chill. no one is going to help you if your a dick to them. he miss understood what your saying that is all. There is no horn that sounds when you lock/unlock the car. obviously a horn sounds when you press "panic". i had my alarm installed at the dealer but i remember on my Jetta there was two horns. one for the alarm and one for the steering wheel horn. idk how the xB works. double check all the connections. what about a bad relay, wouldnt that control the pulse of the alarm horn.

the alarm doesn't come with a relay, just two modules, wiring harness, and three solenoids. There is always the possibility that one of those components is not functioning properly.

lol, misunderstandings added to fustration is always a bad equation. Always happens in my shop lol.

ohh.. sorry.. yes.. i did misread your statement. (quick to rush to conclusion.. my mistake)

now here's the answer to the actual question...

first off... where did you purchase the alarm and for what year model car?
the '04-'06 alarms use part# 08586-52960

where as the newer '06 and up use 08586-52961 (which are those vehicles with the audio controls)

if you installed the improper kit, then the pin locations of each are going to be slightly different... that fundamentally will cause the problems you have mentioned.

to correct that... you need to make sure (i believe) the black wire that you relocated during the install matches up with the other pin in the other harness and plug... as for what pin number or location... i honestly don't know off hand... but the wiring manuals in this sticky should help

now i hope that helps... if you have any further problems after this... shoot me a pm or call me.
