well, first off, what are the symptoms? Are you hammering on it then it quits? Or just after long periods it gets hot and dies? Remember, if an amp is not warm or a little hot, it is not working right. These things produce heat. So maybe you have a speaker going out and driving the amp too low or maybe it is finally giving up on life.

A couple of years ago...7 to be exact I had an X-plod amp running 2 12" X-Plod subs....

I never had any probs and I beat it up.

It just gets really hot and cuts out?

This might sound stupid but it isn't in an enclosed tight space is it? It has "Breathing" room?

does it have an internal fan? Is it working? If not you may be able to put a 12 volt fan on it to keep cool. IMO it sounds like the amp is getting ready to call it quits if it worked fine up until recently. That is if nothing has changed lately.

Go get yourself a cheap 80mm or 120mm PC fan and wire its positive to the remote wire lead of the amp. It will help to keep it cooler.
I agree with HarleyGuy, though. If the amp has been working fine for a while and is just now starting to give you grief, then you are probably looking at a dying amplifier.
Good luck.

I kept my amp in the litle compartment in the back of the xB, and it kept cutting out in the summer because of heat. Not enough breathing room. You can add a little $7 computer fan to the cubby if you want and that should significantly cool it down.
