HELP!!!anyone with s7 autotechnic guages
i got mine 2day and im tryin to put them in and the instrucs really suck, it came with some white circle stickers and i dont know where to put them....can u help???
I have the Ac D5 series gauges which I think are a little different, but I hear you on the AC directions being lacking to say the least.
Anyway, I had two power hookups for mine. The first was a red wire that was for operating power and that I taped into the back of the lighter beneath the ash tray. I used one of those quick splice plastic things for 18 to 20 gauge wires (can get a Radio Shack or any car parts store).
I also had a yellow power wire that was to turn on the lights of the gauges. You could splice these into the same lighter wire, but I think it's a cleaner install if you make them illuminate only when the headlights are on. I spliced into the solid green wire that illuminates the lights behind the climate controls. If you take your center dash panel off there will be three wire clusters that need to be disconnected from the back of it. The largest of these (it is white plastic) snaps into a center white plastic rectangular piece which is about 3.5" x 2.5". The solid green wire that is part of this cluster will provide 12v only when the headlights are on.
You should also have a black grounding wire, I grounded mine at a factory ground point that is located right below the interior fuse box (lower left corner by your left foot if you are sitting in the car). You will need to remove the plastic panel that simply snaps out. You will see several white and black striped wires that are already grounded there.
I don't know how much wire length you were given with the 7 series gauges, but I had to extend my gauge wires with 22 gauge wire so they would reach the points we are talking about. I used a soldering iron and shrink tubing, but I'm sure that one of those crimped on connection cones would be just fine and much easier.
Keep in mind this install was for the AC D5 series, but I'm assuming that it will not be too muck different form yours.

thanks for the help guys...i can always poke around in there with a meter and find the wire i need for power, just wanted to see if anyone had done it yet, so i would know where to start looking and maybe save some time. ill snag that yellow wire and splice into that.
thx again
thx again
I cant remember the wire exactly, but I beleive it is green with a silver band, on the gauge cluster harness. I would test it to be sure, but once you ture the lights on it work perfect.
I had to modify the tach portion to get it to fit right, but other then that the gauges look great. I also have the S7 volt gauge, but I am testing to see if I want to keep it before modifing the dash.

got em in today... thanks for the help, i ended up tapping into my radio harness dimmer wire for power.
the needle is easy to see, especially at night, if anything theyre harder to see in the daytime.

There are factors that are preventing me from buying the gauges... Changing my stock HU and odometer led colors... the S7 gauges just add more weird colors to my interioir. Don't get me wrong, I love the color scheme, but it doesn't match the rest of my interior...
