Default Help with cupholder lighting

I need to light up the cup holders at night since there is not a light for them in the XA. I am an older person so not into the LED lights. Has anyone found a way to light them up at night? Is there something I can use to do this?

there are other ways of lighting it up but it is a lot easier and battery efficent to use the led cupholder illumination that scion offers because it will also be under warranty and since it is led's it doesn't use up as much juice as the other possibilities.

I ended up making my own LED cupholder kit. I couldn't see my cupholders at night, as well. It cost me 7 bucks for the leds, resistors, and wire. You can always get some type of pilot like and have it shine on top of the cup holders.

Thank for the reply. I dont want to pay $150 for the Scion cupholder lights as I think this is way out of line on cost. Looks like I will have to make something. No I only need rear mudflaps but the dealer wants almost $70 for them as well.

Negro please, you don't get what you pay for when you buy accessories from the dealer. Lighting the cupholders is actually quite easy if you only want one color of illumination. I'm not familiar with the interior of the xA, but for the xB all you have to do is take the center console out, drill a couple holes in the bottom of the cupholder, stick your LEDs in, slap some hot glue on the back to keep them in place, then wire them to a power source and a switch.

Default The best Solution!

Go to WalMart or PepBoys or.....and buy a $3-10 cigarette lighter plug in flash light that's bendable and bend it to your desired angle and turn on / off when needed.

What does your age have anything to do with this?

He may be thinking Neons not that age has anything to do with them either but I found some LED's at Autozone. they came prewired in a pack of 3 and with a switch, all you would have to do is drill the holes and insert the LED's. Drill a hole for the switch(I think its 1/4") Attach the Switch to a power source(a la Cigarette lighter) and you are good to go. I can't remember the name of who made them but it was like 10 dollars.

I actually plan on doing this on my roomates 85 Celica as soon as She gets her Cupholder/center console in. (OEM parts for pre 1990 stuff is so hard to find)

Since I have an RS1 the interior amber lights were kinda free, but I would never pay for those things.

You don't get what you pay for with Scion accessories. Everyone that has the interior Luxaura LEDs lights in their Scion, take a look sometime....THEY'RE IN PLACE USING ZIP TIES!

I guarantee those units cost Luxaura about $10, no more than $20. And then they cost like $250!?

Do yourself a favor:
Go install LEDs into the cupholders yourself. It's easy and you can get them in any color you want, or even ones that change between 7 colors.

If you want underdash/seat lights, go with cold cathodes. Also an easy self-install.
