It's in! I can't believe I actually did it and saved myself all that money. Thanks again for helping me out guys. One last problem, there are two big gaps on the side of the deck now, what do I need to fill those in?

yeah there's a kit you can buy for that. here's my suggestion though.

go to a hobby store or actually home depot. buy a "no tresspassing" sign and make some covers for those gaps. make two strips wide enough to cover each gap plus a little so you can hot glue the strips to the "bezel" around the radio. prepaint the strips or leave them aluminum (mine's aluminum)

Default Trim on sides

Call Crutchfield. They sell trim kits for around 12 bucks. My profile shows my DD unit with these attached (https://www.scionlife.com/gallery/?photo=30940).

I'm guessing this is the trim kit needed? I just want to make sure, kinda hard to see what it looks like exactly from that side view.

Looks the same. I used Crutchfield Item No. 120958202. It's a Toyota/Scion Trim Kit. BTW, good job on your install...I'm not pushing Crutchfield or anything, but one advantage to using them to buy HUs is that they include pretty good installation instructions and the corrrect wiring harness for just about any vehicle. They're a little bit pricier, but also have a very liberal return policy. A few years ago I bought an HU from them, found one a lot cheaper a few days later, used the Crutchfield installation guide and harness for the install of the cheaper unit, and then returned the original HU back to Crutchfield...no problem.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I'm putting the same deck in. Did you just hook up the parking brake wire to ground? In the instruction manual it looks like it is going to the positive side.

The illumination worked with 12v+ for me.

the wire going to the emergency brake switch has 12 volts when the emergency brake is off and grounded when on. so if you want dvd to work all the time you would ground the lead on your deck.
