help with wiring audio system..
oaky so i'm keeping my stock head unit and just tapping a LOC to the speaker wire behind the head unit. I tapped into the gray wire for the remote turn on wire, is that the correct wire to tap into? i've read so many diferent things on were the remote wire goes.. well after working on it all day and i had my amp, subs, everything hooked up, i went for a test and nothing works.. i mean NOTHING. my stock HU won't even get power, it doesn't turn on. I have no idea what is wrong.. please someone, advicee?
Well first lets make sure that you tapped the right wires, check here if you haven' already done so (PDF) http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf
Looking at that guide I think you tapped the right wire for your amp turn on, but perhaps the wire that goes to HU got cut or disconnected. This happened to me, I had everything working but when I shoved the HU back in something got disconnected and I had to pull it back out.
If you've checked and everything is connected fine it could be that you blew a fuse, just check both your fuse boxes(incabin fuse box most likely) for blown fuses.
Note: I'm not 100% sure where the amp turn on wire is on the HU because I do not have mine hooked to the HU. I have my turn on wire connected to a switch that gets power from the incabin fuse box. I also have kept the stock HU and added subs and goten mine to work, so we have similar setups.

just drop everything and take it to a shop!! the last thing you want is to be "that guy " on the side of the road with his sh$t on fire because he wanted to save $50.00. the worst you'll do is maybe pay $100.00 for the hook up, but you'll know it's right!!!, good luck!
The gray wire is actually the ACC wire for the radio. If you do not have power to anything, you may have one of two fuses blown. Either the ACC or Dome light fuse may be out. The Dome light fuses the 12v constant while the ACC fuses the 12v switched. Check them both. If you continue to blow fuses, then you need to check your wiring very carefully. A simple pinched power wire could be shorting to ground, which would instantly blow your fuse.
Thank you everyone for your help.
I got up this morning for work and oddly everything worked just fine..
For a stock HU, this hits HARD.
i have two 12" sony xplods and the 1100 watt sony amp.
my ear drums feel like they're bleeding after driving all day.
