Default Here’s a question for you

I need a little help here because I am at a loss. I have a Memphis-15-M1124D powered by a Memphis 16-MCD500. At high volume it plays well with a clean bump. I turned the volume down and I noticed it sounded like the sub was blown. I pulled out the multi-tester and the resistance came back around 4 ohms. So the speaker wasn’t blown. I decided to pull it out of the box, and when I did I noticed the thing was completely full of poly-fill. I pulled about half of it out and put everything back together now the sub sounds fine at low volume. Has anyone else had this problem? Right now I just want to know why...and maybe figure out what the installer was thinking on this one.
Thanks gang!

Right now I'm having the same proplem. When I installed my amp I did a sloppy job but I might want to check my sub.

The thing that bothers me about this one is that I took it to a "professional" shop. Polyfil is good. I have had situations before where I put some in and the system sounded better, so you may give it a shot.
I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me it was normal to completely fill the enclosure.

Ive read a bit on pollyfill and it appeared that for a sealed enclosure the optimal ratio was ~1.5 pounds/cu foot iirc

that should fill a smaller enclosure...

If the fill came in a rolled sheet, spray a little contact adhesive on the inside of the box, then lay it in. (contact adhesive = spray glue).
