Default How to find out if your aux/cd changer port is dead?

So I had purchased the aux adaptor from discountcarstereo.com a while back, and it stopped working after about maybe an hour or so, but I think it was due to me unplugging the piece that went to the adaptor while everything was on. The adaptor also smelled a little burned. So they send me a new one since it was under warranty(which I kinda wish I could extend), which also doesn't work. I've tried mixing and matching all the parts, and it still doesn't work.

So I'm wondering, did I fry the port? I'd love to know if I need to purchase a new deck, if Toyota will cover it, or if maybe it's just the adaptors. Any help would be GREATLY appeciated. The sooner I can get the proper parts and have my iPod running the better. Switching CD's are hassle, and not having playlists and a sense of organization sucks. Thanks!
