I have an MP3 question?

Sorry you asked now arent you
OK here is the deal on MP3
MP3 uses lossie cowpression to make the moosic smaller. Some data is compressed MORE than others because of the way humans (and moos) hear.
Lower bit rates requiore more cowpression than the higher bit rates but a high bit rate will still not be as "good" as the origional.
All that being said ...
There are the more or less "standard" bitrates. 64Kbps sounds more or less like FM radio. 128 More like a CD. Many like 96Kbps which is inbetween.
The SOURCE is IMPORTANT. If the source is noisy then it will not compress well...will sound like crud...and take up a lot of room.
Try to record your fav songs at differnt rates and then play them back. Or better yet have a frend play them back in different orders keeping which is which secret from you. Keep the lowest bit rate you like for the most songs on the disk.
Best yet ... record them at differnt orders on a few CDs. Have your frend swith the CDs around in the car...then figure out what works for you.
Note that different songs may work better or worse than your selected bit rates. If you have the time rip everything at a few rates then select the ones with the lowest rates that still sound OK to you.
Record then at whatever speed works for your recorder and media. It still plays back at the 1x speed. Note however that different media/player combos work better at different speeds. Some work better FASTER!
Never clean your disk around in a circle always from the center out. A circuler scratch can real f--kup the error correction.
Recordable disks record right under the labull (realy!). So you need to protect the top too. DON'T try to peal the lameo label you put on there off. You are just as likley to peal the data up with it (I know I did it).
