I present... Window Speaker Panels
It's a nice use of the space, but I agree with the "steal me please" aspect of it. Perhaps putting some kind of liner behind it so the outside world doesn't see the temptation would help? I've read of people laying fiberglass out for molds, perhaps you could line the area with whatever's used and lay fiberglass to make an enclosure as well as conceal it all? IMHO it would look really nice finished out that way.
I'm not running rears either no need to in my opinion sound doesn't come from the back at a concert etc. But thats just my personal prefrance. And I'll just remain silent on the aspects of sound with these window speakers I can see its not welcome. Maybe instead of copying Pioneer you could work on a better install and preformance might be fun. If not maybe I will give it a shot.
oops this is old news... there's a guy in lemon grove that has those built in already as of last november. his name is Mike and he works at Bob Baker Toyota in lemon grove. Sorry Mikey could'nt resist telling. but they do sound good (if you know what your doing).
