Default Installation question

I have a question and a concern. I want to put in alpines speakers in the tC but im paranoid of having some guy at an audio place do it and screw something up. On my previous car, a '95 camry, I had best buy install the back speakers. Everything was fine until 2 years later when my friend was installing subs for me a discovered that best buy had broken the side cushion of the back seat off and tried to fix it with tape. Best buy didn't notify me of their mistake. I DO NOT want that happening to my tC or anything of that matter. Does Toyota or Scion dealerships do installation of audio parts or does it vary from dealership to dealership? I would think that they would know how to take apart the car like the back of their hand since they deal with those kinds of cars all day long. Help is needed

make sure its a reputable shop... preferably take it to one that specializes in scions...
with our shop, we have specialists in many varieties of cars, vw, lexus, honda, nissan guys... most of our installers drive different cars, and are knowledgable about there vehicles, they also help one another out if we run into problems...

I recommend that you DO NOT stand around them during the install, it ____es many installers off... if you are constantly hovering over them... it puts more pressure on them and they tend to rush your job, it also raises the risk of damaging something... since they are more nervous. Ask around to see what shops are hacks, and what shops do good work... Ask the salespeople which installer which they think is the best and specify that they are the only one to work on your vehicle.

Accidents happen, and even seasoned installers will break things from time to time... shops that do good work, will often replace panels/pieces/clips if they are broken during the install... and will let you know if they damaged something...

Just a heads up, most places require that you be over 18 to install for insurance reasons.

Also most places like Best Buy or Circuit City have what they call SILs Self Insured Losses. It is so if they break something, you can make them pay to have it fixed.

ANYONE can make a mistake when workin on a car. I have seen guys just trying to remove panels and the panels snap cause the clip was stuck. It happens get over it.

I know when I installed, I make mistakes every now and then on a car I was unfamiliar with. It happens. Did I do it often, no, why? Because I took my time. If you go to a shop and they have a dozen cars and they have 4 hours to close, chances are they will rush and break something.

Also some installers do not mind if you ask if you can watch. Just as long as you arent a ***** about it. I have seen customers sit in the car and nit pick everything that the installer was doing. Then I have seen customers just ask questions so that they can learn.

Don't act like you are doing the installers a favor by bringing your car to them. They would much rather lose a car then deal with a jerk.

And Tip the guy. If you tell him there is a decent size tip involved, chances are he will do a better job on it, then just I really could care less about this jerk type of job.

And I agree with the take directions. I was watching a buddy of mine try to figure out how to amp wire under the side panel cause we both did't know about the little fir tree that held it down till we took out the back seat.
