Installed a budget system in the tC
Actually, it was only a budget system because it was $200 off on a package deal, so the whole set up only ended up costing me $320... Anyway, it's two Kenwood 10's in a sealed box with the Kenwood KAC-7201 fan-cooled 800 watt amp. They sound great in the car, I must say I'm real happy with em. Oh yeah, the install was a pain in the ___, too. :-). Had to be creative about taking the car apart, and since there are no pre-outs on the stock deck I had to use a line converter, but all wires are hidden (except the speaker wire going to the subs) and it fits under the cargo cover. Here's a pic.

if you have an aftermarket headunit you wont need the line converter, just use your preouts on the deck. however, since the stock deck doesnt have preouts, you need to tap into the rear speakers with a line converter to change the audio signal to rca output,. the whole car snaps apart and back together so its not that bad.
As far as running a 0 gauge, i dunno, i used 4ga so it shouldnt be THAT bad... but under the driverside dash (easiest way is to fish it from the inside out, or you wont be able to reach it) theres a big grommet with a bundle of wires going through it, just use a razor or something to cut a hole in it, and fish the power wire through. next you can route it over the big bracket up by the dash, and down the side of the car (the kick panel pops off with a little force, and the door sill trim pops right off). the part where you're gonna have trouble is the rear panel, because theres only about a hole 2"x2" where you can fish wire through without taking the panel completely off, but once again, the entire thing pulls off with a little force.. after that, it's cake, use the bolts under the seat to ground the amp and you're good to go. i didn't have to take the center console out for the remote lead since i have the stock deck, so youre on your own for that one.

It was at Best Buy, I think the promotion only ran through yesterday, but you might want to check. They run the Kenwood party pack specials all the time. I figured I could buy one from Circuit City, but they have crappy stuff in their package deals (ie: Bazooka and Alphasonik), not to mention, the 800 watt amp was nice too. Altogether it was like $400 for the 2 10" Kenwood typhoon subs, Kenwood 800 watt fan-cooled amp, sub box, Scosche 4ga wiring kit and line level converter. Not bad I say :-)
