Default Installed TRD Quickshifter- problem/question *pic* plz help

I just had the dealer install the trd quickshifter this morning. it was an accessory i bought from the dealer when i got the xb, and it has been on backorder until now.
First thing i noticed after it was installed is that now the shift boot just sags there, and doesnt match up to the new ****. Are they all like this? there used to be a silver ring at the top of the boot but that isnt there any more. please fill me in.

here is a picture i just took of mine

Is there a way to mod the boot some how? I'd like to hear what other people with the TRD quickshifter have done... as far as different ***** or how they dealt with the boot.

best way too fix it if they gave your old chrome trim ring back too you just bore it out too the larger size and bam it looks just like stock...

What hotf said, which is what I did with my own. I also taped some foamed neoprene around the shaft to hold the collar up, but some tape would work, too...

I kept the stock ****- better heft and feel than the TRD ****, afaic...

TRD's execution of the boot detail is pretty cheesy, to say the least. Hope you got the stock parts back- it's easy to fix if you did...

Getting the original silver piece as noted above is the easiest fix. I took my boot out and sewed a taper to match the shaft.

i used my old trd shift **** which is a bit more bigger than the stock one but same pistol grip style i like it more than the ball and yes the gap is there. unless you modify the plastic ring or come up with a way to make your own.

I'm doing this install right now, and of course the chrome ring doesn't fit over the TRD stick. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to remove it. I tried to just take the boot out so I could play with it out of the hot car, but the first tab I pushed in just broke off.

Nice.

So, how do I get that chrome ring out of the boot?

One more question. When removing the middle retaining clip, I had to bend the hell out of it to get it off. Now, it's back on there, but it's really loose.

Is this a concern?
